Trace Network Configuration & Flow Analysis (USEL)

Project: Shura Marina (Red Sea Global)
Discipline: Electrical Network (USEL)

Challenge
Once the MEP network is validated, it must support downstream flow analysis – e.g., upstream/downstream tracing, isolation planning, and dead-end detection – to enable real-world operational decision-making.

Solution

  • USEL_Trace_Net configured as a trace network inside the GDB.
  • Network attributes defined: Shape Length, Flow Direction.
  • Roles assigned: cable junctions, equipment, mainline.
  • Flow direction validated by running downstream traces across the electrical network.
  • Errors (dead-ends, open switches, disconnected stubs) surfaced and corrected.

Outcome

  • Operational trace network ready for production use.
  • Confirmed connectivity and flow direction across all segments.
  • Enables isolation planning, outage analysis, and facility management queries – directly from GIS.
